PCBL welcome the Gypsum Miners
The Pioneer Collegiate Baseball League announced in January the addition of a new team to be based in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Now that team has a name – the Gypsum Miners! The name is a nod to the old minor league team which competed in the Iowa State League from 1904-1906.

Established in 1904 as the Gypsum Eaters, the Class D minor league outfit finished their first season at 57-52 which was good enough for fifth place in the eight-team league. For year two the team was renamed the Gypsumites and finished second at 73-49. In their final season of 1906 the Gypsumites went 68-49 to finish in third place.
