Bandits ink RHP Voight
Bancroft Bandits have signed William Penn University RHP Augie Voight for the 2019 PCBL season. The 6’2 200-pound right handed pitcher is from Waukegan, Illinois. This past summer Augie pitched in the Northwoods League for the Duluth Huskies.
Voight struck out 73 batters in 62 innings this past season for WPU. He was 4-6 with a 4.45 ERA. In 2017 at College of Lake County Augie was top 10 in the nation with a 0.99 ERA. He finished with a 4-1 record while striking out 36 hitters in 37 innings.
When about signing with Bancroft, Voight said, “I’m thankful for this opportunity, and to be apart of the team. I’m excited to go out there and compete.”
“Augie is a solid pitcher with great pitch ability,” said Coach Michael Keeran. “He has good velocity, but doesn’t rely on it. He knows how to pitch with his off-speed too. He’s had a solid career thus far and I think he will continue that this year at WPU. He’s a bulldog and a hungry competitor. He doesn’t walk guys and knows how to get outs. He’s always going to give you a chance to win when he pitches. I’m very excited to have Augie on our staff.”

PCBL Playoffs begin Monday
Season two of the Pioneer Collegiate Baseball League will come to a conclusion this week when the playoffs will decide a champion. Albert Lea Lakers (29-5) captured the regular season pennant and top seed for the playoffs which features all five teams.
The record-setting Lakers will face fourth-seeded Bancroft Bandits (13-20) in a best-of three series beginning on Monday in Albert Lea. While the Lakers dominated the head-to-head series this summer winning six of nine Bancroft had the most success of any PCBL team. The teams split the last four games played each winning a pair.
A three-team round robin will determine the second finalist. With Peak of Ames (6-18) playing a limited schedule this format will still allow each team a fair shot at advancing. Defending league champion Storm Lake Whitecaps (18-18) and Carroll Merchants (17-18) also will face Ames.
